Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (2025)

Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (1) (8/10)
This got great reviews but was only a minor hit, perhaps because the first two Crazy Cars games tainted people's image. Ignore that and check it out – it's a challenging racing game with an intriguing league structure, a betting section before each race, a choice of which tracks to race on at each time, the choice of which upgrades to buy in which order, one-off Divisional Challenge races to move up the rankings, local racers and ordinary road traffic on the roads as you race, and police to avoid or work around (one great trick is to nudge a rival into the police car, making them the hunted offender).

Sadly, the actual racing isn't as slick as Lotus 2, and all too often a single mistake can destroy your game, due to the tight financial margins - tellingly, the first time I got halfway through the game, I went on to complete it. Still, it’s a great alternative spin on the OutRun-esque genre

Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (2) (6/10)
For once a Crazy Cars that is playable.
The orange tint to everything is a bit weird though and the faces are poorly drawn. The sounds are nothing special.

"Crazy Cars 3" was 1 player, but "Lamborghini American Challenge" was the version with 2 simultaneous players

Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (3) (9/10)
CCIII is simply incredible! It has nothing compares to Lotus but you can play it with the same pleasure! It isn't beautiful to see but the background and the graphics capture you and is very good! The gameplay with the betting match is a fantastic idea...and the truck between the division??? Make me mad!
absolutely a MUST!

A very good racing game with nice concept of racing across all the states of United States. The game makes a fine usage of extra memory saving some time during loading screens and music.

Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (5) (10/10)
There's only one minus in compare with Lotus 2, it's not for two players. But in fact, it is! We always played it together and took turns after each race! (update: two players here: [www] !!!)

But all the rest is incomparable. More options in car design, more races, better graphics and atmosphere and much more fun! I simply love this game. Anyone who try it must take Lotus, crumple it and throw to the trashcan

Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (6) (10/10)
Definitely the Arcade Racer I like the most. And it performs even better than it normaly does by adding some fast mem or turbo. Worth a try for anyone. At least I would say so that is ...

Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (7) (8/10)
Very good arcade racer that packed something extra. I liked the whole ambiance of it, the gambling, the street racing feeling that emanated from it, but - above all - I loved the polished graphics, fast gameplay and sharp controls. Quite a good game, I must reckon.

Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (8) (9/10)
After two disastrous precursors, they came up with a racing game I'd play over any Lotus anytime! This one remained in my head and heart as ''the Speedball 2 of street racing''. It might not have the super-smooth driving model à la Lotus, but it gave me everything else! Urban racing, a solid feeling of speed, upgrades, bets, police chases and a selectable Mr. T lookalike Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (9) ... By a long shot the closest thing to Need for Speed on Amiga, and filled with nice touches that sweep away its disgraceful legacy.

Should I really go for the downsides of CCIII, I could say that ingame sound is nothing special - much of it lifted from CCII - and the opponents do not seem to differ much in skill and tactics (despite the manual claiming otherwise). Also, there is no variety in the looks of other cars: you cannot even tell apart civilians and sports cars from a distance. That's odd considering how brightly coloured the rest of the game is (I've heard it uses a mode that goes well beyond the standard 32-color bitplanes, but I might be wrong).

Rarely have I been so proud of purchasing a title that hardly went noticed by the press at the time.

A lot of production and attention to detail was evident in this game and it was also great to play. Miles better than that last "effort!" Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (11)

Awesome stuff. While the driving mechanics were nothing special, it's the package as a whole that made this one of the most addictive games on the Amiga. I still play it to this day.

I have only just played this title, and its not bad at all! Whilst not quite up there with Lotus for smoothness, its got some nice touches to it with the betting and very wide range of locations to race! For straight out arcade racing I love lotus, and when I want a little more depth with my arcade racing, this is DA BOMB! HEHE! Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (17)

Aside from Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge this was my favourite driving game. I played this for hours and had alot of fun outrunning the police and taking money off rivals etc. A superb game from titus and if you have not played it....sort it out as you have missed out on a fun game. AMIGA RULEZ

Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (21) (8/10)
A bit hard as you can't save until you complete the division challenge which is difficult without a turbo. You need to win money fast to stay in it. Each round takes you a solid hour. Just sucks if you fail the challenge and have to begin from the beginning. Start with New York, Boston then Spokane. Very addictive so beware. 8/10 Haywire

I started with the first sequel. I found it kind of fun but this 2nd sequel was way better in every way. Great game, actually. I found it quite addicting. Very polished.

I still have my copy of this somewhere. It was just like being in a video arcade!!

Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (26) (8/10)
Very cool arcade racing! Graphics are very well done, the idea itself - great and well executed. While Lotus is still the best pure-racer, Crazy Cars 3 benefits from it's idea of street racing - stakes, rating, heroes, cops etc. Very difficult game indeed - played it a lot in old days - never succeeded very far.

Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (27) (9/10)
Terrifc racing game that ranks alongside the "Lotus" series quite comfortably. The betting with your rivals and then racing them aspect adds spice to the gameplay and the races themselves are terrific with the tracks being just the right length and the "civilian" traffic and police adding a touch of realism which makes things even more involving. The fact that the graphics are great and that it moves fast help as well. There are faults - the "civilian" and opposition cars could have done with more variation and some more weather effects would have been nice - but this is still a superior racer and easily one of the Amiga's best.

This was good! Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (33) I almost forgot I played it (and still have it actually)! I loved outrunning the cops with the nitro boost and gambling loads of money, determined to win it all plus some back! Great game, not as good as Jag XJ220 but definitely not far off! Could this have been Titus Software's defining moment, and their best ever game, a bolt from the blue...

Shocked by how well made this was, the great playability and even the betting element which had you needing to beat specific rivals to win the POT as bet boosted it's total value, awesome racing too! Highly recommended.... RATING...84/100 For Mine.

Again, how Titus managed to pull this game out of their ass after the first two shall remain a baffling mystery that shall continue to haunt our generation. This was really good, right up there with lotus 1.

Crazy Cars III is better than I & II. Racing all over USA this game you can win money and even betting money on other blokes. But when racing you gotta watch out for police cars, they always get upset about speeding especially those speed cameras. Best game, very nice graphics, sounds are awesome and the tunes are great. I'm giving this game 10/10 for that.

Crazy Cars III - Amiga Game Review (42) (9/10)
This was one of my favourite Amiga racers. The main reason why I liked Crazy Cars III was because it was so fast! Get your speed up, especially when going downhill, and have fun dodging traffic! And then let rip with the boost - the coolest nitro in an Amiga racer, which makes the road turn to a blur! The graphics are also well done, as are the sounds, and the neat intro. The tracks take place in a variety of locations, more so then Lotus, and the backdrops are almost always are beautiful to look at. Gambling on the race's outcome is a very simple touch, but it makes so much difference, and makes the game more involving. And what do you do with all that cash when you win? Buy the best upgrades in an Amiga racer! These include police and camera scanners, amongst many others. Your opponents are pretty talented drivers, without being overly tough, and the cops that chase you are annoying, but not frustratingly so. I've never played any of the prequels, but I haven't heard too much good stuff about them. But Crazy Cars II is a great game, and one of the Amiga's coolest racers.

Very nice game. Not as good as Jaguar XJ220 or Lotus games series but still quite a good game. Nice GFX, fast and well programmed it deserves a look for sure. If only the Out Run conversion would have been AT LEAST as this one...

Great Game! One of the hardest racing games I've ever played simply because you must gamble and make money as you progress, your opponents are just as fast as you so its no easy race game. Turbo helps though...
