How do you read the Dunkel Index? ›

The “rating” is the power number given to each team. The higher the rating, the better the team. The ratings have been calculated to easily interpret the relative strengths of teams. For example, a team with a rating of 70.0 (Team A) is 10 points better than a team with a rating of 60.0 (Team B).

The most common score from 1901-present is 3–2, with 4–3 and 2–1 close behind. If you look at it year-by-year, 4–3 and 3–2 typically finish first and second in some order in almost every season. The most common final score in Major League Baseball (MLB) games is 4-3.

The Dunkel System, also known as the Dunkel College Football Index, is a college football rating system developed in 1929 by Richard C. "Dick" Dunkel, Sr. (1906–1975), to determine a national champion. Dunkel rated college football teams from 1929 until his death in 1975.

An index value of 100 indicates that a result exactly matches the baseline average, an index of 200 that the result is twice the average, and an index of 50 that it is half the average. Broadly speaking, an index of less than 90 or more than 110 would be considered different enough from the average to take note of.

A Game Score of 50 is considered "average," while a Game Score of 40 is deemed to be "replacement level." Game Scores in the 80s and 90s are widely regarded as impressive, and scores of at least 100 are exceptionally rare.

OBP (On-Base Percentage) – it's the number of times a batter reaches base by hits, walks or being hit by pitch, divided by his plate appearances (all at bats, walks, times hit by pitch, sacrifice flies).

Unassisted triple plays

Bill Wambsganss executed an unassisted triple play in the 1920 World Series. The rarest type of triple play, and one of the rarest events of any kind in baseball, is for a single fielder to complete all three outs in one play.

An index number is defined as the number which is raised to the power. The power says how many times the number is to be used in multiplication. Generally, it is represented as a small number to the right side and above the base number. In the above example, the little “3” says to use 8 three times in multiplication.

Ranges from -1.0 to +1.0; the closer to 0.0 indicates no discrimination among high- and low-performing students. Achieving closer to 1.0 discrimination index is optimal. A discrimination index of 0.3 or greater is considered highly discriminating.

A higher poverty gap index means that poverty is more severe. For example, suppose a country has 10 million citizens, a poverty line of $500 per year, and a poverty gap index of 5%. In such a case, an average increase of $25 per individual, per year, would eliminate extreme poverty.
