had used flomax and then finesteride for prostate issue, side effects were killing my intimacy with wife. Now take 320mg of saw twice a day. No more weak stream nor false urges. Off the prescription too.

Based on the NCCIH: "High-quality scientific studies have shown that saw palmetto is no more effective than a placebo (an inactive substance) in relieving urinary tract symptoms caused by prostate enlargement. These studies include a 2011 NIH-funded study that tested saw palmetto in amounts up to three times the usual dose."

Complete and utter waste of money. Had to stop after 2 days of use as it gave me severe insomnia, and did zero for my bph. Spoke to my urologist about this stuff and he laughed and asked me how much I had spent. I told him just $20 and he said that's not bad, some of his patients spent hundreds on this garbage as well as all the other Super Beta prostate like phony pills. He said those were the worst as they always charge for like 3 months worth of pills at the beginning, the reason being is nobody ever orders it again. He put me onto Tamsulosin and Finasteride and they worked a charm, still get up once maybe twice a night, not ideal, but better than the 5 or 6 times a night I was!Read More Read Less

I take Saw Palmetto daily for probably 8 years now. My daily dose was 320 mg and since the beginning of this year I increased it to 650 mg. It works absolutely fine for me. My PSA level is low and I don't get up 3-4 times at night to urinate as I used to do. Now I probably do it once but it always depends on the amount of water/tea I drank before going to bed. I haven't experienced any side effect i.e. no dizziness, nausea, or diarrheas. Personally I am absolutely totally satisfied.

When you take at a higher dosage it’s great.Better than Finasteride (MD recommended) that makes you wimpy, and grow breasts.

I had a PSA of 12-14 and was getting up 6-8X nightly to urinate, so I took 1000mg Saw Palmetto for my BPH for about 10 years & no more getting up at night. Then the doctor began prescribing Silodosin for it, which caused terrible dizziness for about 8 months, even fainting due to low BP, so then he prescribed Midodrine to offset that to fix my dizziness & BP. Finally, I just stopped those both and went back to Saw Palmetto on my own and within 2 days, no more dizziness or other side effects, and my urination remained good. As an accountant who tracks things, don't tell me Saw Palmetto doesn't work. Been relying on it for too long. As soon as I'm off it, the urination problems return. Read More Read Less

I started talking 3 pills 450mg daily about 6-7 months ago. I have having all kinds of prostate issues mostly enlarged. My PSA level is down and a recent MRI on the prostate shows its pretty normal. I don't like taking prescription pills and wanted something natural. Did this work? Well everything seems to be back to normal. The only thing I took was Saw Palmetto and continue to take it daily 1350 MG

I have had BPH for 10 + years. The past couple of years the need to urinate at night has increased. Routine visit to the doctor in October, the doc suggested I try saw palmetto. He's had a number of patients that it works for, equal number that it didn't.I take one capsule 3x a day. After a week I had a dramatic increase in stream and up at night once instead of 3x. I've been taking it for about 3 months now. I did have some increase with diaherra, but went away pretty quick.like my doc said, works for some, not so much for others.Read More Read Less

Bought small quantity to test for side-effects. I noticed mild drowsiness; listlessness and a feeling of apathy after just several days. Bought the supplement at a 50% discount price which suggests to me the seller is anxious to get rid of this line.I don't recommend this product as it could be potentially dangerous if taken for long periods. People such as myself should consult with their G.P. regarding suspected Prostate enlargement as it could be Cancer and not benign.

Although it has limited effect on frequent nocturnal urination it did eliminate painful urination and that is a win as far as I am concerned. Side note: Using my CPAP markedly reduces my nighttime trips to the bathroom.

While Web MD says Saw Palmetto doesn’t work for BPH, somehow it greatly reduced my need to get up to urinate at night, from every hour to two hours to twice a night. They say to only use it for three years but don’t say why.

I have done my own research on this for 10 years, I take any of several multi-supplement prostate pills of various brands along with Saw Palmetto, then every six months I go off of the Saw Palmetto and just take the regular pills (which may or may not contain a tiny bit of Saw Palmetto.) After one month of going off the Saw Palmetto, my BPH symptoms always noticeably worsen. The number trips to the bathroom generally does not change but the ease of relieving myself changes, it starts to be harder to urinate and the "stops and starts" increase. Also I will think I'm done but many times it's back for a little more "draining" afterwards. And the dribbling is worse. Trust me, Saw Palmetto works, at least for me. Others might not benefit as much due to differences in physiology of different folks. But my evaluation has been pretty darn scientific.Read More Read Less

I started taking saw palmetto about 2-3 years ago and currently take 320mg (2 gelcaps) before bed (took one 160mg daily and a year ago went up to 320mg daily). The saw palmetto extract I take also has pumpkin seed oil and flax-seed oil as well. I started it when I first noticed my hair was thinner on top. I had to use hair wax everyday and work on it for 10-15 minutes to spread my hair in order to make it look thicker. That and my hair wasn't thinning evenly but more and less in spots. I started saw palmetto and noticed effects right away. The dry spots on my skin were gone overnight and my hair didn't feel dry but was starting to feel healthier. It will take time atleast 3 months maybe less to see significant effects. My hair regained it's moisture first and then it seemed to thicken/grow every week. It not only reversed my hair thinning but it helped my skin and hair regain it's moisture again. Lastly, I have noticed IME that since taking saw palmetto extract everynight my sleep is deeper, more refreshing and I stopped having wake ups during the night. I also noticed and find IME that saw palmetto has some effect on stress. I have tried a lot of supplements for anxiety/stress and didn't expect that effect from saw palmetto (but not through a sedative effect like most anxiolytics but it seems to reduce effects of stress). Overall, I think it is a great product.Read More Read Less

Before the AMA came along with its drugs, Saw Palmetto was the main treatment in the American Pharmacopeia for prostate-related disorders. About 40 years ago I used Saw Palmetto as a remedy for Frequent NighttimeUrination. It took effect almost immediately, and the symptom disappeared afterafter about 3 months. I have hardly used it since. At the same time, I had worked in a "Health" Food Store (GNC), and recommendedit to many male customers. I estimate it worked for about 80% of those who used it; and it became one of our best sellers. Recommend you contact GNC and other sellers of alternative medicine for theirexperiences.Read More Read Less

I am 36 and since I was 20, I was having problems about urinating. Once I read some academic articles and I learned it could have been helpful for my hairloss. Those days I used to have hair and I am not sure if it really helped but I remember there was a slight improvement on my skin and hair. Yet, perhaps my beard growing slower or my muscles were not improving well but I was not so sure. However, I had quit long time ago and now I am almost bald but my urinating condition worsened. There have been times lately I was spending 5 minutes to pee and lately I had a problem with my left testicle where there was a pain over 9 months now. Doctors could not find anything on ultrasound and prescribed some dangerous antibiotic which I did not wanna use. One of the doctors helped me on internet said that, I have problems about urinating as flowmeter test result was so bad and I better use an alpha blocker rather than another medicine or antibiotic. I later remembered saw palmetto was causing me to urinate like a race horse when I used it. For a reason I do not know, it was causing a slight pain on my left testicle too when I was using it. However, I have decided to use it again to at least cure my bad urinating flow and have come to write here it really works for that purpose. Now I do not wait that long in the toilet and I feel like I am able to empty my bladder to a greater degree so I do not have to go to toilette more often. My visits to toilette during sleep reduced too. Sometimes I am only doing it when I wake up. Yet, it has been only 3 weeks I have started using it again. I am always skeptical about this as it might hinder my muscle growth, I also fear it might cause infertility in the future but there are studies showing it actually increases testesterone while reducing DHT and this should not cause any problem for a man unlike other medicines lowering both DHT and testesterone. Finally, I recommend you if you have any problem about urinating. This stuff definitely works but I do not know how.Read More Read Less
